Family Caregivers

You care for someone you love.
Explore the next step.

Some relatives and friends may qualify as paid Home Help caregivers. Learn about the process before making decisions about care or payment.

Understand the requirements.

The official Michigan guidance says caregivers must be at least 18, enroll in CHAMPS, and meet background screening requirements. Spouses and parents caring for minor children cannot be paid caregivers under the listed rules.

Guardianship and other individual circumstances need a specific review. Do not assume every family relationship is eligible.
